When the rain was at its worst, undercover refreshments were available, all served by
Joan Richardson, Margaret Wildman, Janet Brownrigg, Anne Brownrigg and Marjorie Beatty.
Despite the persistent rain, there was a great atmosphere at this small country fair. Music from The Segretta Stompers, Richard Corcoran (Classical Guitar), and Dick Barlow and David Morris playing piccolo and violin, all played its part with many interesting activities and a variety of items to buy from the many attractive stalls. Coconut shies, quoits, bulls eye golf, croquet and having your portrait sketched by a local artist, were some of the many activities to be experienced at this well organised fair. Organisers included Barbara Stephens, Caroline Morris and Tosca Bull. Later in the day there was a fancy Dress Competition and to conclude, a TUG of WAR between Ravenstonedale and Newbiggin-on-Lune was planned.
This previously much neglected property has been transformed by the vision and energy of owner Chris Harrison-Beck with the help of gardener Reg Metcalf. It was a pleasure, even in the rain, to walk the interesting paths and become aware of the developments that have taken place over the past two years.
