APPLEBY TOWN CARNIVAL
SAT 10th JULY
The weather was DULL
but the carnival was BRIGHT and clourful
...and started right on time with the crowning of the Carnival Queen in front of the Moot Hall
with a good number of helpers and assistants led by Robin Hood himself!
Despite the drizzle the procession arrived in the town centre at 1.30 and thrilled the crowds
who had come to witness all the colour and spectacle
Four floats made their way up to the castle while those on foot took a short route to the park
Bluejam percussionists made sure that everyone
realised that there was a lot to see and hear
and many people took the opportunity to paint up ....
.... and enjoy the carnival
The first Appleby Guides provided the look of the famous St Trinians
while other award winners included the gun slingers, the amazing sweeps ...
and three special Trinians were presented with their awards
by the Mayor of Appleby
...not forgetting the shield that went
along the YELLOW brick road!!
