MORLAND CHORISTERS CHOIR
Enjoyed a week of Music and Games
and at the conclusion
SANG EVENSONG
IN CARLISLE CATHEDRAL
and then performed a further selection of music
on
SAT 6th Aug 7pm
at
Penrith Methodist Church
The choir made a great start with 'Wade in the Water', a traditional piece conducted by Donald Gilthorpe (Concert Director)
Bases and tenors gave good account of themselves singing - 'She's Like a Swallow'!
During the evening a number of choristers took important solo roles including the above
Following the interval there was a very enjoyable musical production of 'The Wind in the Willows'
based on the book by Kenneth Graham
with words by David Grant and Music by John Rutter
It was a very enjoyable concert performed by extremely talented musicians
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL INVOLVED
SUNDAY at 10.30am at Morland Parish Church
Morning Service
The traditional procession from the school to the church started at 10.15am
... and was greeted by parents and onlookers by the side of the road as they all made their way
... to the parish church
... luckily the rain stayed away for the journey and the service started right on time
IN THE AFTERNOON THE PARENTS TEA WAS ENJOYED BY EVERYONE
AND THEN FOLLOWED BY THE AWARDS AND APPRECIATIONS
WHICH TOOK PLACE AT 4pm IN THE VILLAGE HALL
The overall team winners ...
... achieved the most number of points during the week, while other awards were made for most impressive chorister ...
.... hymn writing and other very creditable achievements
SUNDAY at 6.30pm at Morland Parish Church - EVENSONG
The procession from Morland House to the church ...
.. reflecting on a great week of music and friendship
After a well sung evensong the formal farewell
was followed by a lot of picture taking and even more personal goodbyes
It was easy to see that the week together had made a great impression on those who had enjoyed their time here in Morland
and the exchange of email addresses and mobile phone numbers was another
link to building long friendships which could in fact last a lifetime
THE TRAIN BACK TO LONDON
Leaving the TUERS coach early on Monday morning ....
... there was just time to 'PHONE HOME' and reflect on the scrap book before the train arrived right on time .....
... and to say a fond farewell to MUSICAL MORLAND for another year!
