APPLEBY FESTIVAL OF FIRE AND LIGHT

The eager crowds all collected by the Sands in good time for the procession to the light and fire display

A lot of imaginative work had gone into the preparations

.... and it was obvious that some considerable skill was involved in producing the fire displays


Hallowe'en, formally known as Samhaine,
was first celebrated by the pagans
at the end of October and start of November.



This was at the end of their year when the last harvest came in
and the Winter months were upon them.

When celebrating Samhaine people would
gather together, play games and dance to their own music
While exchanging stories around the fire.

FOLLOWING
in the footsteps fo our ancestors
E C O
EDEN COMMUNITY OUTDOORS
sees Hallowe'en as a time to come together
as a community, celebrate the year just past and
enjoy a little fire, music and performance.

The finale of the evening was the fire circle.
