QUESTION TIME
Sunday 24th June 6pm
at
The Castle Hotel, Brough
The Church of England in the Upper Eden area
is running the latest in a series of Christian pub-events on Sunday evening
24th June,
in the Castle Hotel, Brough.
Called "Question Time", the event is similar to the TV programme of
the same name.
A panel of people will be present to answer and debate faith-related questions.
Previous panelists have included farmers, an MP & MEP, the Bishop of Carlisle
and so on.
This time the panel consists of:
- Cllr Tim Stoddard, Leader, Cumbria County Council,
- Rev’d Paul Dunstan, Appleby Methodist Minister,
- Mrs Judy Craig, local retired head-teacher,
and Sir Martin Holdgate, former Chief
Scientist at the Dept of the Environment
and former Director-General of the World Conservation Union.
Taking the chair for the evening will
be Rev'd Dr Brian Magorrian,
a local Church of England minister with responsibility for new forms of Anglican
churches in the Upper Eden area.
Asked why the event is being run, he said,
"We hope that the evening will be a fun, interesting evening at which
we'll be able to talk about issues that often don't get debated in the public
arena.
This is the third pub-based Question Time with previous events
proving to have been a valuable opportunity to hear from a variety of local
folk
combined in an interesting way with insights from more high-profile regional
and national figures.
It's chance that we don't often get in rural Cumbria!"
Doors open just before 6.00pm
with bread and soup being available for half-an-hour
and the questions starting at 6.30pm.
EVERYONE WELCOME!!
