Ulverston Lantern Festival 2008
September 20th saw the spectacular Ulverston Lantern Festival ...
but until about 7.15pm the streets were almost deserted ....
BUT... slowly the street vendors arrived ...
the candles were lit ..... and the procession of beautifully made lanterns got underway at around 7.45pm
From four starting points the warmly lit processions made their way through the streets and towards the town centre ...
... where huge crowds applauded the skill and creativity of those in the processions
Accompanying the lanterns were marching bands with their pulsating rythms keeping the walkers right on time
The theme of WILD THINGS ... was well represented by SHARKS, LIONS, OCTOPUS,SQUID,OWLS and many more
Onward towards the park for the Firework finale
