St Peters Day proved to be great day with fine weather and a record number
of crowns and crosses

It was obvious that a tremendous amount of work had gone into preparing the crowns and crosses

The procession commenced right on time and proceeded through the village much to the delight of local people

who lined the streets taking photographs and admiring the artistic efforst of all involved

Once at Warcop Hall the children were given refreshments
and everyone relaxed in the grounds and were entertained by the music performed by volunteers
from the Appleby and Kirkby Stephen town bands


Following the tea party at the hall everyone processed to the church for the traditional blessing of the crowns and crosses
by The Revd. Brian Magorrian.

While many of these traditional activities appear to be disappearing it is wonderful
to see this colourful and important event remaining in the annual village calendar
