Under Five's Storytime!
A successful series of story reading sessions have been held at Penrith Library on Tuesdays fortnightly.
Todays session ( July 13th) was attended by Catherine Cannon,
local author of 'Felix the Fast Tractor'.
During this session Jane Metcalfe (pictured) dramatically read stories from Big Picture Books

which were greatly enjoyed by the little toddlers and their mums.
'Spot the dog, Kipper and Elmo are all very popular' said Jane as she got her breath back after the session. 'I always like to have some activity in each session too.' Today they started by singing 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' amid lots of giggles and plenty of actions. It was obviously thoroughly enjoyed by youngest and eldest!
During the middle of the session Catherine read her lovely story
'Felix the Fast Tractor'

pointing out the various buildings and where felix was probably hiding!

Felix the Fast Tractor is a beautifully illustrated book, even
Jane couldn't resist taking a peek
over Catherine's shoulder to admire the pictures.

The session ended with everyone singing 'If You're Happy and You Know It!
It was quite obvious that everyone was quite happy with Felix!
During the last couple of months the session have been attended
by about 10 to 15 toddlers with their mums. Though the popular storytime readings
are suspended during the Summer School Holidays, they will resume again in September.
Deb Holden is in charge of the children's section of the library
and Sandra Moorhouse and Jane Metcalf are responsible for leading the interesting
storytime sessions.
